Apprentice Land Based Service Engineer

We have a one-stop-shop approach; from new machine sales, after market support, through dedicated parts, service, and workshop teams, Hire requirements, to Used Machine and Part Sales.

We are going places, doubling in size in the last two years, with significant growth throughout the UK we now operate from 3 sites, with the addition of a new state of the art PDI centre in Barnsley which opened in June 2022.

The apprenticeship:

We are looking to recruit a number of apprentices to commence an Apprenticeship in Land-Based Service Engineer (Construction) from September 2023. This will involve on-the-job training at our Barnsley site at Blacker Hill with some college-based study. You will attend Askham Bryan College in York for ten one-week blocks scheduled throughout the year. You can commute or take advantage of the on-site accommodation. Travel and accommodation will be paid for by the company during the college-based study weeks and an allowance will be given towards food.

What you will learn:

You will learn how to repair, service and maintain construction plant equipment, waste shredding equipment and separators. This includes removal, repair and refitting of mechanical components, cooling systems, engines, hydraulics, gear boxes, clutches, driveline and electrical systems.

The apprentice:

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate practical ability and logical thinking who will use their initiative to work through problems. They will need to be a good communicator and work as part of a team and overall be eager to learn and develop their career. Ideally candidates should have achieved GCSE’s in Maths, English and ICT at grade A*-C or grade 9 – 4.

The future:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship you could become one of our on site engineers in our PDI or Workshop Departments or you could work off site as one of our team of Field Service Engineers. You may even choose to develop your career further by specialising in a specific brand and becoming a technical expert.
